People seek answers in pubic forums and in Dear Abby to get an outsiders opinion or an opinion from a non-involved person. These people are not close to the subject and are not emotionally invovled. They are a fresh opinion. Some people also find comfort in asking someone who will not judge them. Many people do not have someone like that to turn to in their lives so they turn to strangers to get different honest opinions.Why do people seek the advice of strangers in forums like this, or in newspaper columns like 'Dear Abby'?
For some people it is easier to ask someone that you don't know b/c even if they judge you they don't know who you are and the people that you do know will judge you and tell eveyone about what you talked to them about.
I think it's because if you ask the advice of someone who doesn't know you you will get a straight forward answer while if you ask someone who knows you you don't always get a straight answer because most the time they will try and spare your feelings.
Either they have nobody else to turn to, plus that's what the columns and the forums are for. Or the person they do have, that they can turn to wont answer their questions, or they don't like what the person tells them.
because strangers are safe, cant judge u directly and may have an unbias point of view, and in here a mixed point of view
Its because they feel to insecure about the subject to tell their friends because they feel imbarassed or perverted or they just don't want their friends to know their feelings on intimate subjects
because ppl like to have other pplz opinions and just like you like to ask your friends how does this look? it the same as this ppl are always lookin for an opinion.
Because we have nothing better to do and some of us think its fun,and love to help others out!

That's a great question. I think people enjoy hearing feedback to their questions, sometimes there is not always someone around who can tell you ';who played what in the Titanic';, or ';what is the best remedy for...'; It's questions like those and many others that people need answered so they ask Dear Abby and Yahoo Answers, it's a wonderful service!
because they want to find someone that would tell them that they are right when they are wrong

sometimes its good to hear from someone you dont know, the same answer that you already thought of. somehow it makes it easier
