Is it time to seek medical advice?

I had my IUD (Mirena) removed at the beginning of December 2008 and had my first period a few days later - it appeared normal and my GP said i could begin trying to concieve right away. I have had regular 30-31day cycles since with ovulation happening on day 17/18 with a 13/14 day luteal phase. I have charted the entire time i have been trying to concieve using ovulation sticks alongside temperatures and CM patterns. each month i have had intercourse throughout my fertile time but still haven't concieved 6 months on. I was a little overweight but have lost 15lb over the past 7 weeks and don't have too much more to go - i'm halfway there!

My hubby is not the healthiest though - he is a smoker and he too need to lose some weight. At this stage though i am wondering if i should seek some medical advice just for peace of mind really. I am 27 and my hubby is 26. I am aware the guidelines are usually 12 months before seeking advice but as i am charting i thought they may see us a little earlier. We already have 1 child - our son is 3 now.

Thank you so much for any advice you can give me. Sticky baby dust to all ttcer's xxIs it time to seek medical advice?
Trust your instincts and see the Dr. - you may need to see your OB to be referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. Bring all your data with you, and be sure to have the data on your husband as well. There was a study in 2005 by Phillip Morris that found smoking affected male fertility. Not sure what's been found since then.Is it time to seek medical advice?
Specialist will usually see you after a year and your right about if your doing all the extra things that they might see you sooner, but seeing as you have already had a child together and have not had any miscarriages then they will more then likely make you wait the whole year. It never hurts to try tho. Call around and see what can be done. Good Luck and Baby Dust!
Like you said the docs like you to try for a year. I wasn't the most honest when i went to the doctor cause i knew there was something wrong with me and didn't want to wait any longer for testing. I think you should at least get some fertility blood work done as well as a semen analysis for your hubby. Why waste time? make sure the doctors do the right blood work to. It has to be on day three of your cycle. I was pretty regular and booked my appt which ended up on day 2 of my cycle so i got a script for blood work and went the next day. I saved myself a month of waiting for day three by timing the appt right. Also make sure that they test your thyroid. the tests are called TSH, T3, T3 Uptake T4. Also have them test you for anti-thyroid antibodies. That's not routinely done. Progesterone, estrogen (estradial, E2)FSH, LH,Prolactin,as well as the regular tests to, CBC, CMP, Liver profile and any genetic testing as well as STD testing. I know its a lot but they only need like 3 tubes of blood for everything. Its better to go to the doctor with some knowledge. I wish your the best of luck and lots of baby dust to you
