Seeking advice on how to remove 'write protected' from my flash drive?

Your devotion has been noted.

However, I fail to see a question here.

How do you stay clear headed when a friend or relative seeks advice from you on a hot or emotional issue?

All advice and insight is welcome. How do you stay clear headed when a friend or relative seeks advice from you on a hot or emotional issue?
How do you keep your head under ANY circumstance?

If someone trusts you enough to confide in you, you can listen quietly, let them have their say, and if they are asking your advice, tell them what you think about the situation, or talk it out with them. Simple. But remember, and tell them, that it's their choice not yours.

I feel honoured when my friends need my help. I choose independent people to hang with so it's a big deal if they ask me what they should do.

If it's of a delicate nature, something about intimacy physically, and it makes you uncomfortable, tell them you are not comfortable talking about this with them. They should respect that.

And don't hang around for them to go ahead anyway.

If you can handle it and listen without wanting to curl up and die, you can tell them what you think because they are asking.

Perhaps they have no one else to talk to about this issue.

It could be you are the only one they felt comfortable telling.

It could be a huge compliment. They think you can handle it.

So do I.

Seeking professional advice. I work in a kennel. What do I do when a fearful dog growles and bares his teeth.?

I sucessfully put the lead on the dog but when I went to take it off he growled, bared his teeth and I withdrew my hand. After that we were both nervous. I called in the person who had checked him in and she had no problem taking off his collar and scratching him behind his ears.Seeking professional advice. I work in a kennel. What do I do when a fearful dog growles and bares his teeth.?
I raise Dobermans and at times one will act up. What I have found to work is taking the lead up so my hand was at the back of their neck, looking down and sternly saying NO one time and not losing eye cont ac for a few seconds then walk them a few more paces stop and talk friendly with them with a few praises. Pull the lead up again so your hand rests on the back of their neck again and hold on to the collar gently then with your other hand pat him a few times the whole time telling the dog how good he or she is then release the lead and then the collar. Main important point you cant show any fear.Seeking professional advice. I work in a kennel. What do I do when a fearful dog growles and bares his teeth.?

Is there an area where he can be let out of his kennel before attaching the leash? He is most likely much more aggressive when he feels like he is cornered.

If you can't let him out first, then go in and let him come to you. He won't feel threatened if he makes the first move.

Often dogs respond to different people because of scent. You may have handled another male before approaching him, or you may have a dog at home that left scent on you. Perhaps the other person did not.

Also, the other person may remind him more of his family. Or the person who checked him in was given permission by the owner, and you were not introduced by the owner.

There could be many reasons, but he sounds more fear-aggressive than just mean. See what you can do to earn his trust, and don't rush him.

Hope this helps some.
dont make eye contact unless you are sure you wont look away first. if my dog gets to thinking hes boss i very sternly lift his front feet off the ground for a split second holding his collar and say NO!! and mean it.thats if he is just posturing if it was an im gonna kill you growel get someone else to do him.
Don't be afraid to start....if you have any fear or concern, it might be best to let someone else get the dog.

it's not worth getting bit.

NEVER come toward dog and pet the head....always have your hand lower than the head.

let the dog smell your hand first, before attempting to place collar or pet him.
Get somebody else to handle the dog!

http://www.searchbuddie.com/search/dog-g鈥?/a>
Remember that he is afraid. remain calm your self. he has learned that he can control you by growling and being agressive. this is a time for caution. I have worked with fearfull dogs before even been bitten a few times. work with the other people at the kennel to learn better ways to handle dogs in this situation.

I try working with this dog in various situation under the supervision of your supervisor at work. you did the right thing by calling in help.
It sounds like you were scared of him from the start and he sensed that. Take him a treat when you go to yake him out. Try to srat calm and offer it to him.

Advice on seeking help without insurance?

Im 25 and suffer from severe depression. As a teenager I was diagnosed and hospitalized for it twice. I havent had any treatment since I was 17.

Recently, I had a baby and my depression has kicked into overdrive and I decided to try and get treatment for it again.

My problem is, Im embarrassed about it. i dont have health insurance and have been calling around trying to find out where I can get help for it without having insurance, but I havent had any luck.

Does anyone in my situation have any advice?Advice on seeking help without insurance?
I do understand completely. And actually you are not alone in that you feel embarrassed about asking for help. I know for me it was the fact that if I did, it was like I was saying I was messed up and something was wrong with me.

I am an independent broker with Ameriplan (just so you know before hand and it's not like I am trying to hide anything or that I am just saying all this to get you to buy something...) I do use the plans personally and love them, and for someone in your situation without insurance and needing to find a way of getting the help you need, it can in fact help.

That being said, one service that is offered through our plan, is online mental health services. You can actually get the help you need %26amp; not have to feel so nervous about it.

You can take a look at the plans at http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/cberney

And if you click on ';Locate a Provider'; then scroll down the page, you will see the info in regards to the Online Mental Health services.

Hopefully this will help you out! Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to have more details.

All my best!Advice on seeking help without insurance?
Most cities have mental health crisis centers where you can go in case of emergency. But you can also call them for referrals to non profit mental health centers that will provide services on a sliding scale.
Perhaps Planned Parenthood can refer you to someone. Good luck!
You can usually find free or inexpensive treatment at college campuses, where they train psychologists and social workers. Or, you can offer to pay out of pocket, on a sliding scale, but it's harder to find someone that will accept it. Ask for interns or people working under supervision. They will accept less $$.

  • Baby-Name Advice Sought: Should I name my baby son Atari Combat, Coleco Adam, Mattel Aquarius or Sega Genesis?

Cool 80s sounding names are a sure path to the NFL. It's been 15 months now and we still haven't come up with a name. Thanks for your help.Baby-Name Advice Sought: Should I name my baby son Atari Combat, Coleco Adam, Mattel Aquarius or Sega Genesis?
Let's see now...Atari Combat Cacciatore - no; Coleco Adam Cacciatore - yes (sounds best); Mattel Aquarius Cacciatore - yes (2nd best); Sega Genesis Cacciatore - no. You might also try Coleco Atari Cacciatore. (I would keep Atari as the middle name. Atari Cacciatore doesn't flow off the tongue, but Coleco Cacciatore does.) Now, pick a name for that babby boy! 15 mos. - why don't you let him pick his own name? ; PBaby-Name Advice Sought: Should I name my baby son Atari Combat, Coleco Adam, Mattel Aquarius or Sega Genesis?
Definitely not Sega Genesis, mainly because I wouldn't think getting picked on would help his confidence any bit to get him to the NFL. I think the name the sticks out to me the most is Mattel Aquarius! If I heard that name and was looking up high school football player to draft, I would definitely go to his games to check his performance. Brutally honest, the other names may actually cause the opposite effect to me. hope I helped and good luck!!!
I would say ';Atari Combat'; because with the name ';Combat';, I would take it that he's in for a good ';Combat'; on the playing field. It just sounds like the ';strongest'; choices you've given. BUT, surely you honestly wouldn't give a poor child a ';handle'; of a name of that nature. PLUS, I do NOT think ';mama dearest'; would allow it in the first place...lol
I would call him Flux Capacitor. Lmao, I just noticed the ';15 months'; part. Well if the baby has been born since then, maybe you should just call him ';It'; or ';baby'; whatever you've been using the past 6 months.
No dude, action figures are the way to go! Optimus Prime, Skelatore, and Cobra Commander. They'll make mommy and daddy big bucks!!!
Wow 15 months! So what have you been calling him? How about Frogger, donk key kong, pac man, or space invaders?

    Kathy
Oh no way. I think this is a joke so I'm not going to take this seriously... after all it only takes 9mos for a baby to be born. ... unless your wife is having an elephant
Why not just call him rambo, it would fit in well with your family name :)
these are names of games, not boy names... but if I HAVE to pick Coleco Adam, it sounds most normal

Diabetic and seeking advice on drinking alcohol....?

I am a diabetic, in good control and I going to drink alcohol for the first time. I know that some may say to simply do not do it, but I would like to try it responsibly. I would just like to hear any tips, advise, or things to avoid, etc when mixing diabetes with alcohol. Thanks for helping me out!Diabetic and seeking advice on drinking alcohol....?
i am diabetic and a student. i go out drinking with friends, and have never had a problem with my diabetes through drink. i think in the long run i will stop, as the potential effects of blindness, poor circulation etc are not worth the risk, but in my youth, whilst exercising regularly it should'nt b a problem.

just stick to some basic rules,

    always eat well before drink,

dont have sugary mixers or wkd style drinks (many of which come with a warning for diabetics)

tell the people you are out with about it and what to do if you crash

drink sensibly, beer is easy to do this with as there is no confustion over the units, not like shots where they can hit you out of nowhere

take dextrose tablets just in caseDiabetic and seeking advice on drinking alcohol....?
Three glasses of red wine a week actually helps to control diabetes, works hand in hand with the liver glycogen output, in fact i usually have better levels if i have one small glass a day with lunch...i read a study on it. try to get a good wine, european without sulphites and addatives junk in it...
    Alcohol LOWERS blood sugar.

Always eat when you drink and drink in moderation.[ one to two drinks a day ].

Check your blood sugar often and make sure others can help you remember to check.

Do not do anything stupid such as 21 shots at a time. That will kill you.
I am a diabetic and take Metformin and drink approx a six pack of beer, 1 bottle of wine and three shorts over a 1 week period. So far this has had no effect on my diabetes (Tested every 6 months). Have a tipple and enjoy.
Do you take medication for diabetes? For metformin, for example, alcohol is not recommended.

You need to remember that alcohol has calories in it so you need to make sure you account for them.
If you never had alcohol before why do you wants to start now? If you are curious to taste alcohol choose a light beer or dry white wine after a meal or snack.

Alcohol has to be detoxicated in liver. If you are on medications, again liver has to work very hard.Alcohol stimulates liver to produce your own triglycerides which is detrimental to any body's health-diabetic or not. Alcohol also causes HYPOglycemia and your control of sugar as a diabetic go heywire. So it is not advisable to drink alcohol NOW.
if u drink it u will go into seizers

My mother passed away in january this year and i want to know if i should go seek some professional advice?

im a very happy person. My friends think i have handled my mothers death with great strength for my age (im 20 years old). Some days are fine, and others, i cant get myself out of bed. I think about her every day. I think i am depressed, my friends don't think i am because whenever we hang out i'm my usual self. Its hard to explain, but its the worst when im alone.

Do you think a professional could help me? Do you think that i am over exaggerating? My mother passed away in january this year and i want to know if i should go seek some professional advice?
No one can help how they feel. If you feel depressed, you feel depressed. Your friends attitude toward you are their reaction to your circumstances, but they can't be sure they have figured them out accurately.

Feeling feelings is not in anyone's control. However, everyone can help how they react to their feelings. Everyone can control their behavior. Staying in bed is avoidance behavior and that, in turn, can make you feel depressed. You can control behavior. Get out of bed.

When you're alone you feel more depressed, when you're with friends you are your usual happy self. You can control behavior. Don't be alone if you can help it.

It took me years to stop mourning my mother's death, but I carried on because I knew eventually it would pass. And it does. I just sucked up the depressing feelings and chose behaviors that got me through the day. It got easier as time went on, but because memories keep coming back, it never goes away completely. I'm okay with that.

Everyone is different. My brothers didn't mourn her passing nearly as long as I did.

No, you're not over-exaggerating your feelings, but you may be over-exaggerating your choice of behaviors in reaction to those feelings. If you find that your feelings are interfering with being able to behave productively, then, yes, you should seek counseling. I can't tell for sure, but from what you have written, I don't think you need counseling.

Unless you think this behavior is counterproductive, try this: Decide what you want in regard to your situation. Write it down. Make sure it's really what you want. Then, figure out what actions, what behaviors logically will lead you to get what you have decided you want. Write it out. Follow the plan, adapt and adjust it as needed to get you to your objective (your want).

Doing this may be enough to get you back on track. I hope it does. If it doesn't, then you should seek counseling. I wish you well.My mother passed away in january this year and i want to know if i should go seek some professional advice?
Really only you knows the answer to this question. I don't think it would hurt anything if you did go. I'm sorry about your loss. My heart goes out to you. Good luck.
You're not overreacting at all. A professional could definitely help with a loss like this.
I am sorry for the loss of your mother, especially at such a young age. I just lost my dad in January as well, but I'm 42 and he was in his 70's. - still hard though.

What you are describing sounds perfectly normal for the grief process. When my husband died I always had to fill the silence with the TV or radio. Being alone is hard because your thoughts have time to creep up on you. When you are with your friends they can help lift you up and distract you.

Being that is has only been such a short time since you lost your mom, you probably are not at the point of needing professional help. UNLESS you do not have anyone to talk to. If this is something you can't talk about with your friends or family, then you do need SOMEONE to talk to.

Because of the experience of losing my husband fairly young and now my father I started a bereavement website. There is a page that lists the Stages of Bereavement.

    http://www.comfort-for-bereavement.com/s鈥?/a>

maybe it would help you understand the stages of grief that all people experience. We all do it a little differently, so these are just general phases.

Hope this info is helpful. It sounds like you are doing okay given what you have gone through.
Being depressed and missed someone that u loved so much is nothing unusual.I do miss my late dad too.He passed away when I was only 11.I cant concentrate on my studies and my grades dropped drastically. At the age of 19,my mom passed away.I really feel the lost.BEing an orphan in such a young age, when people celebrating father's day or mother's day I tend to miss them more. And I burst into tears.Years past by and I can get over it.Since I have my other siblings who love me so much. But fate just happen every time,it's part and parcel of life.Every living things will die.My 2nd brother died of diabetes.I cried and could not help my tears from falling.Every secs,it reminds me on how wonderful my bro is during his life.He is there by my side, when my ex-husband left me.He sends me to court to settle my divorce case.He drives me to work when I was not feeling well.I will burst into tears whenever I missed him.And my tears keep rolling on my cheeks when I wrote this.THe only thing I can do before sleep I will read some prayers to my dad,mom and brother.I have to accept the fact that although I love them so much God loves them more. And I believe they are happy in heaven because they are wonderful people during their life.I believe ur mom too. That's the reason why u cant help thinking of her and miss her.Call out her name every time u miss her and tell her u miss her and how much u love her.She can hear every word u said to her although she's in another world.Try not to be alone, cos loneliness will make us tends to miss them more. You r only 20,life has to go on.

You are heading towards the right track. Having your own business is the way to go instead of working for someone else. I recommend that you start out by having an online business. Here you will learn how to market your product and how to operate your own business. Best of all, it is automated, so it makes your work more simple. Once you are experienced, then you can go ahead and move on to the the next level and that's to have your own bookstore. You never know, you may even end up having your own online bookstore! I know this online program, which is perfect for beginners. The package also includes an amazing assortment of software to enhance your computing experience. The cost to get started with this program is just $20. You get a personal automated website that sells itself, and you get to keep the e-books and software too. But if you're a US resident, you can get everything for FREE. I'm seeking advice on spending addiction - SERIOUS answers only, please?

I don't carry credit cards, but I have a bad habit of overspending my budget to the point that checks bounce and I wind up in a financial mess. I have even been suckered into those cash advance places.

I use shopping as a way to relieve stress. Yes, I am in therapy and this is an issue we discuss. Before you blast me for asking in this forum, I am looking for people who have been through this before! I have looked into Spenders Anonymous, but the nearest meeting site is a 2-hour drive away.

I budget, I do lists, I shop with cash only (when I have cash), and I even gave my parents my debit card so I can't go to the ATM. I can't get myself to stick to a budget.

If you have this problem, what are some of the things you do to help yourself?I'm seeking advice on spending addiction - SERIOUS answers only, please?
The most important thing is that you notice it's hard for you. Trust me - it's easy to spend a lot of money in a hurry. I am an impulsive shopper and it's easy for me to justify LARGE purchases. But, I've found it's best if you can think through your long-term financial goals (i.e., buy a house, buy a car, get married, retire, become a millionaire, etc.) and then bend your spending habits accordingly. Two websites that I like are http://www.finishrich.com/ and http://www.19millionaire.com/ - their articles both really help put a perspective on money. Good luck!I'm seeking advice on spending addiction - SERIOUS answers only, please?

Frankly speaking, it depends on your mentality. You can divert your spending temptation to something else. For example, you can think of save more money to buy a flat? Think of saving money to buy something which has value and expensive. If not, you can try getting yourself a partner. With a partner, you will not spend that much and he/she will be able to control you as well.

And advice for a UK citizen seeking a visa to move to the US?

I have been to all the websites, I have downloaded all the forms, I've done me reserach... I think I know the process well enough...

My wife is an US citizen and has been living with me here in the UK for 5 years now... We now want to move back to the US.

Has anybody been through this process and if so, any advice or tips?

Also, once in the US on my Visa, how long does the green card application take (I will have an immediate visa number so I can apply straight away)?

Thanks! And advice for a UK citizen seeking a visa to move to the US?
Since your wife has been a resident in the UK for the past five years, what you really need to do is check with the embassy in London and see if she can't file an IR-1 immigrant visa petition there directly. Most US embassies will allow resident Americans to do this, and I believe London will as well, if she is indeed a legal resident there.

If she can, you will significantly jump start the entire process and speed things up tremendously. Among other things, there would be no need whatsoever to file a K-3 petition. That can't be filed in the UK anyway, but it's intended to allow spouses of US citizens to enter in a temporary nonimmigrant status while they're waiting for USCIS stateside to process the immigrant visa petition. These used to take a lot longer to process, but in many cases that's no longer true. Plus, you're far better off in terms of actually getting the green card in your hands, as going the K-3 route requires USCIS to schedule an adjustment hearing for you and given their backlogs, that slows things down considerably.

If you can have the IR-1 petition filed directly there, the adjudication time for the petition is far faster, and you can skip the normal processing route that goes from USCIS to the National Visa Center to the embassy as the petition would start and end at the embassy. You would be eligible for the green card immediately upon entry and would likely get it in several months, not 1 or 2 years. Assuming you and your wife have been married for the past 5 years, or at least over 2 years, you would be eligible for a permanent green card and not the 2 year conditional green card. So, contact the embassy and check it out as soon as possible. And advice for a UK citizen seeking a visa to move to the US?
The green card application will take a couple of years or so. If your wife is a US citizen, this process will not be difficult. Just make sure you read the forms carefully.
You could expect the K-3 application to take up to a year. If you have been married for more than two years already you will get a full green card, not a conditional one.

You say you've looked at all the websites. Does that include the London Embassy's website? When the time comes get your inoculations sorted out and apply for your Police Report promptly. Not too early, mind you. If it is older than six months they will ask you for another one which just delays you.

Good luck with this. The forms are a royal pain in the posterior but, trust me, it is worth the effort.
Pretty much straight away get a provisional green card, after 2 years if still married get a permanent green card.
After filing the papers my work permit came through in 3 months and my green card after 18 months. I'm British and was married to a US citizen for 10 years before we moved to the US. However, we started the process when we arrived in the US and as stated in the answer above, it is a slower process. We had to attend a couple of interviews at the Immigration offices in LA before I was finally granted permanent residence

Student from New Zealand seeking advice on somewhere to travel for break.?

My brother and I are getting together to celebrate our 21st birthday and we're looking for somewhere cool to travel next june. We both have a little travel under our belts, (few countries in Europe, central America and South East Asia.) We're both keen on culture, cuisine and somewhere with good nightlife. Unfortunately we will most likely be on a strict budget, being student backpackers.

Any positive feedback would be much appreciated.!

ThanksStudent from New Zealand seeking advice on somewhere to travel for break.?
The obvious choice, if on a budget, is South East Asia again.

If you didn't visit all of the countries there, why not try places like Myanmar/Burma, Laos etc. They are often forgotten but are incredible. Laos is fast becoming a backpacker option so I'd recommend going in before it becomes overrun, much like Thailand has been.

Or perhaps visit different cities in the countries you visited? Or do different things such as drive a motorbike up/down Vietnam?

I binged on all bran and muesli cereals, with 1% milk - I seek opinion and advice!?

I am currently on recovery from anorexia. I have to gain weight. Two days ago, my doctor told me I wasn't gaining, so I had to eat more. I'm quite happy with that. Although I've now start to be some sort of compulsive eater. I often binge, to the point of feeling nauseus. Say, taking 3 plates of the main dish and a pretty bulky dessert. BUT, I binge only on pretty healthy food. I think the calories must be around 5000-6000/ day. That's way too fast, right?

Anyway, this morning I ate like 6 big bowls of cereals (finished like 1 L and a half of 1% milk). The cereals were all-bran. Very high fibre ones.

I am feeling real full. (i think this binge must have been around 2000 calories). Is that bad? Should I change my tactic, or I do I need to eat that much?I binged on all bran and muesli cereals, with 1% milk - I seek opinion and advice!?
That may be too much fiber right away.. don't be surprised if you're running to the bathroom constantly in the next day or so.

Anyways, I know how you feel. I myself am recovered from anorexia. I'm still having to gain a couple more pounds, but at first I did what you did. My parents said they were sending me to the hospital, and that freaked me out. I just started eating and eating and eating to gain weight. It was all healthy food for the most part. I think it was natural peanut butter that REALLY helped me gain weight. I think it's fine to eat as much as you're capable of, but NOT to the point of feeling nauseous. Also, test yourself occasionally to make sure you're not ';uncontrollably bingeing';. That's what I do. I just stop in the middle of what I'm eating and walk away. It reassures me that I'm in control of my eating. Of course I always make sure I'm eating enough to gain though!

Also keep in mind, you don't HAVE to gain the weight all at once. As long as you're gaining, you'll be fine. You dont have to gain ten pounds over night.I binged on all bran and muesli cereals, with 1% milk - I seek opinion and advice!?
Bring it up to your doctor. It is a good step in the right direction that you recognize that you do need to eat more and that you are able to eat more, but like you said, eating all of that in one sitting isn't the best answer either. If you can, change your tactic. Eat one big bowl/plate but then wait 30-60 minutes after you finish before you go back for another.
You know, anorexia is a very specific condition. It seems indeed a lot, but you may be hungry too. Maybe you'd best confide in your doctor about this. At least, eating again is a very good thing. Bravo! (I can understand, I love cereals with milk, too...) And for the binge... so be it!

  • Future veterinary student seeking veterinarian for advice?

I'm finishing my AA degree now, and getting ready to transfer to UF to get my bachelors in Animal Sciences, then my masters in Vet. Medicine. Do you have any advice for me? Do all veterinarians get their doctorates too? How was your college experience as a student of veterinary medicine? Thanks for any feedback!Future veterinary student seeking veterinarian for advice?
Yeah, you can't get a ';masters'; in vet med. You have to go to vet school to become a Doctor of veterinary medicine. That means you have to go to a four year vet school. You have to complete a specific set of classes before you can even apply. You also need experience with a veterianry clinic before you can apply. It's not the same as just going to graduate school like you would for something like chemistry, it's more like going to medical school and it's extremely difficult to get in.

Why are Malaysians fond of seeking/following advice from 'bomohs'?

I understand that it is a cultural thing but lately bomohs are also trying to become religious teachers too and this had led into cult-like practice and it seems like there is a huge following.

Frankly, there are things that can be solved/healed by oneself but I find that there are some people who take things for granted and could endanger their mental/physical health when things get a little too extreme.

I am Thai, so you can tell me all about bomohs, witchcraft and mumbo jumbos (its part of our culture too, but many of these bomohs do NOT usually attempt to become religious teachers or teach contradictory things about religion ---MOST (today) are there for the money and some are there because it is a heretical practice from their family's knowledge), I've seen and heard too much of it and this class of profession seems to have an 'industry' of their own, in the market of genuine healers to charlatans.

Any personal thoughts/experiences to share? Why are Malaysians fond of seeking/following advice from 'bomohs'?
    I totally agree with HampehKunyit

I think people seeks bomoh treatment because they believe

    1. There is something that science can't explain like existence of non physical entities like spirits, jinns, etc. So a doctor can't do much about it. Like the case explained by HampehKunyit.

    2. There is always at least an alternatives to achieve something with the same/better result at the end. Modern way approach not the answer of everything

    3. Bomoh 'fee' normally cheaper especially for treatment that involves surgery if the case referred to hospitals. They will go to bomoh first then to doctors when the bomoh unable to solve the problem

I'll continue later once i got time, got to go now....

    -edit-

    4. Doctors only treat the consequences, not the root cause - for example - feel pain- take pain killer, fever-take paracetamol, cancer - chemoteraphy [sorry for bad spelling], kidney problem - transplant it

    5. Recovery time much shorter it treated by a bomoh, sometimes immediately or overnight [very magic you know]. So don't have to undergo very complicated procedure like in hospital

Note: This is what they believe, not what I believe

personal experience - Once, many years ago, I follow a friend to a thai village [kampong siam] to meet a thai bomoh [bomoh siam] in inner Kedah [ they called the man 'pakden']. After my friend finish with the bomoh, we chit chatting. The bomoh said he's going to Australia in a week to help someone there in a law court - a malaysian who failed to declare his money he brought in at Australian airport. he said he'll make the judge 'kapala pusing' and make wrong judgement so that the guy will be set free. So happen the guy was set free by the court! I don't know is it a coincidence or the bomoh is really very 'powerful'

Note: TheBear, is the word 'siam' sound offensive to thai people? If so, I'm sorry. What is 'pakden' by the way?

I agree with Sarah and Yuna, everything is on God's hand and willWhy are Malaysians fond of seeking/following advice from 'bomohs'?
Pakden is just a name, perhaps. Local Thais here use Malay terms for names sometimes. It is the assimilation and absorption of cultures and languages that shaped them into the local society. FYI, Thais in Thailand don't understand the local Thai dialect here.

The most 'pekat' dialect is from Kelantan and heck, I don't even know what the hell they're talking about when they talk to each other. Kedahan Thai is more to the Southern Thai dialect but with some mixes in local slangs and words.

    not everyone believe in it
    Insecurities, baby!! ;-)
i think it all started when someone in the family gotten ill from unknown diseases unexplained by professional doctors. thats when people start to resort to bomoh.

then they became curious about the unknown or the other unexplained mystical world that our eyes could not see. then they pay some money to learn the art to healing or 'berguru'.

Berguru is a dangerous territory. Some people lose their reality and forgot God in return. Especially once they have gotten some healing ability. To me, it okay to be curious about the mystics, but remember that all of us belonged to God. All the powers, all the unseen mystics, human, animals, plants, everything is His.
I didn't really believe in bomoh and quite skeptical about this previously. But after many weird things happened at my sister-in-law' house (long story) due to jealousy and she was continously ill (doctors can never detect her illness), I believe little bit as I witnessed few of those things. Ironically, that was done by Thai bomoh and we had to seek help from some ustazs. She's okay now, at least until another attack as the jealous person is still there.

Yes, bomoh mostly seek help from jinn, usually the jinn he keeps. Another confusing thing is Malay bomohs also use Quranic verses as their spell, but the verses are believed to be manipulated. So they seem as if to be following Islamic treatment practice whereas they are actually seeking satan or jinn's help. They can heal people, but most of the time they are hired to destroy people's health and life.

You'll have to differentiate this with those who practice real Islamic treatment that use only Quranic verses with no additional equipment except mainly water (no jinn, kemenyan, keris etc etc). But they are not called bomoh. They rarely expect money and of course no chicken, yellow rice etc, and they never guarantee results to heal as it is God's will, not ours.

But there are also fake bomoh, those who just seek money and ......sexual pleasure. Few of them will create their own cult and have their own deviant teachings. Anyway, all types of bomoh are menace to the society and against religion. In Islam, using jinn may lead to syirik (association with God) which is the biggest sin.

Main reason of using bomoh not only due to old mentality that all sickness are caused by jinn and ghost, but also the common problem in Malay community that is jealousy. Many of Malays still love to destroy their own fellow Malays and they use bomoh (Thai bomoh is the favourite).
hahaha... trustee, some bomohs are upgraded now, can tell code for reload card... so funny.

At my hometown, they are many bomohs that claimed to have special powers, means not just a bomoh by name. But not the one that give you nombor ekor or giving away reload code but the one who can cure illness or the one that can make people sick even death or to protect ones property (like house, farm with lots of durian hehe..)

Those who come to the bomohs are usually the elders. They grew up with those things so it's hard for them to just turn their back to new religions since they believe it was their religion.

I witness many rituals in my childhood. From curing someone to asking for blessing from the 'Gods', to talking to the other spirits. Aiyaaa... too many la to write here..

But so far, i only witness the good witch. My grandma one of them.

Our bomohs wont' take money on exchange of their services (at least most of them). They accept only stuff like rice or chicken, anything that you actually can cook and prefer to call it as a gift, rather than price.
i am totally against this bomoh thing..to me if you trust God you dont need this bomohs..to me its evil. Even Satan can heal and predict the future. But many people believe this bomoh i wonder why..

Personal experience : When my son was few months old, and so happen we were at a kampung (village)he had fever and my husband insisted that we see the so called 'bomoh'. I kept saying no way, but as persuaded by the in-law's i had no choice. So went to see this lady bomoh and she said few words (dunno wat, she was mumbling to herself something), then she took my son and held his leg one side upside down. I nearly freaked out and he was crying away. Imagine he was just a baby. I too cried to see my baby in tat position and he was having fever at that time. I told my husband thats enough and that i want to take my baby to the clinic. Paid the lady 10.00 and headed to the clinic, got some fever medicine for my baby and in few minutes he was fine...So i dont trust this bomoh...she said that the child will be fine but nothing that sort, they just freak me out...
I guess because sometimes their predictions can be correct or may be coincidently correct.

I think they have 'jinns' as their assistants.

Back in my hometown I know this bomoh, without fail, able to give RM10-50 password numbers for hotlink, celcom %26amp; digi.

Bomoh becoming cult leaders- quite rare, but if there are cases around, that certainly would be dangerous to our society.
before i have my operation in stomach 10 years ago, my pain almost killing me but my mom bring me to this bomoh and suprisingly, he managed to kill the pain..

but there are also bomohs who trying to 'ambil kesempatan' for our money and women too....

what im trying to say is....bomoh=

    1)real bomoh

    2)fake bomoh

As a rape victim, what sort of lawyer should I seek for legal advice?

All I can find is ';Assault and Battery'; and ';Sexual Harassment'; as far as attorneys go.

I'm looking for some advice and some answers to questions I have about my case such as,

-if this goes to court, how will my case hold up?

-with the information i have, how likely is it that he will be prosecuted?

-what is the legal system like, and what would court be like?

I really want this to go to court, and I really want him to be prosecuted because I am not the only victim.

    Thanks guys!

By the way, I live in Oregon. As a rape victim, what sort of lawyer should I seek for legal advice?
Contact a local sexual assault/rape/women's crisis center in your area and ask for a referral to an attorney who can answer your questions. If there is a law school nearby you might want to contact them. They sometimes offer law clinics often at low or no cost to people having legal questions on a range of questions including yours.

You want the case to go to court. Some prosecutors offices have victim advocates. You may want to contact the DA's office and inquire about it. The sexual assault/rape/women's crisis center I mentioned earlier may be able to provide advocacy services for you

A couple of things about going to court in a criminal manner. Understand the decision to do so is not yours. As a victim you are not a party you do not having in a criminal matter. The case is between the state and the alleged offender. The police determine if they have probable cause to make an arrest. The prosecutors office perhaps with the involvement of a grand jury determines if enough evidence exists to bring an indictment against the alleged offender; and then whether they believe there is sufficient evidence to win a conviction and thus justify going to trial.

Let me say in advance of any trial or verdict if the state fails to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt as is required in a criminal prosecution it does not mean you were not raped. It is not a complete exoneration for the perpetrator although the media and his entourage will see it that way. A not guilty verdict in the American system is not a finding of innocence. Trial courts in the US do not make determinations of innocence only of guilt. What a not guilty finding means is that the state didn't prove to level of proof required by law. It does not mean the incident (the rape) didn't occur

Even after a not guilty in a criminal trial you can still a civil action against the rapist and generally if a preponderance of the evidence is in your favor you will win. A preponderance means who have a majority of the evidence in your favor. Or your evidence weighs at least an iota or a scintilla more than his. Now a few states may require clear and convincing evidence in some civil actions. It's a more stringent test than the preponderance one but not nearly as strict as the beyond the reasonable doubt one of criminal prosecutions.

good luck and also if you need any help dealing with emotional trauma from the effects of the rape or anything related to it ask for referrals for social workers or other appropriate resoures from the rape/sexual assault centerAs a rape victim, what sort of lawyer should I seek for legal advice?
You only need a lawyer if you need to sue. The prosecutor will bring you in to go over everything if he needs you to testify.

I would try a rape counseling or crisis center. They have most likely helped many people through this.
Many states have free Victim / Witness Advocates to help crime victims and answer exactly these questions. Just Google ';Oregon crime victims'; and see what comes up.

Criminal defense lawyers handle rape, too.
A criminal case is brought by the state. You should file a complaint with law enforcement sufficient enough to give rise to probable cause so that a warrant can issue.
Unless you want to sue for damages, you don't need your own lawyer. Talk to the DA who's handling your case to find out about your case's progress.

For advice on temporomandibular joint disorder, should i seek a dentist? or other specialist?

I have TMJ and the best solution I have found is to go to a chiropractor. He just jiggles my jaw about every 2 weeks and it is then noticeably smoother to open and close.

Your other option (besides a rotting jaw =P) is to go to a TMJ specialist... who is normally a dentist as well. They will then make you splits... which are like retainers that go down over the flat part of your teeth where you chew. I think it's horrible... you have to mush your food before you eat it... people can see that you're wearing them, etc. It is also VERY expensive... and can move your teeth around (which is no good if you've had braces in the past).

Now I'm doing great... my TMJ is under control, and the chiropractor has done an awesome job. Also... most insurances do not cover anything associated with TMJ... whether it be dentist or chiropractor.

Fashion advice sought! I鈥檝e invested a lot of time and money on clothes- both formal and casual?

But sometimes it just doesn鈥檛 seem as though I鈥檝e got it right. Basically the color matching!. Is there some website or resource out there that can help me see/understand the different colors of tie, suit, trouser that will go with a particular color of shirt鈥?and most of my shirts are without prints of a single color.Fashion advice sought! I鈥檝e invested a lot of time and money on clothes- both formal and casual?
Basically you need 5 Different types of pants

    1. Black Slacks (Real BLACK ones) don't take carrot cut!

    2. Grey Slacks

    3. Cargo Pants (without side pockets)

    4. Sweat Pants (i don't know how to describe but something like those guys from the NBA wore)

    6. Bermudas

Shirt wise.. take colour like White, Purple, Blue, Red, Pink, Black (it is not gay to wear these colour) strong colour is easier to match the pants above! wear shirts with stripes!!! horizontal or vertical only! horizontal lines make you look thin and vertical lines make you look abit fatter (just in case you are too thin)

Wear only sharp colour ties! like White! Carrot colour! Baby Blue etc... and make sure there is pattern on your tie! cause plain colour tie = boring!

The government has some kind of retirement program for american. I believe if you can either show proof of soc. sec. income (or other sources) and/or invest some $$ to Thailand, they will grant you the residency.

Need advice on seeking what was agreed to on divorce papers?

I divorced my husband in 2001. He didn't want the divorce. He bragged on his financial statement beccause at the time he was making big money as a painter, but has always only worked sporadically. When my (pro-bono) lawyer saw this, she mentioned ';alimony'; and he hit the cieling. We agreed that he would pay some credit cared bills I had in lieu of alimony. This never happened. I didn't act on this because I was busy in therapy,, trying to change from an emotionally abused timid ';mouse'; Now we've both been in therapy and have a friendly relationship (he helps me out alot, I'm disabled, he does heavy work for me, paints and cleans my apartment, etc.) But he never intended to pay those bills, I can't on my disability income, he doesn't make that kind of money now, and I don't know what to do. I can't even afford a lawyer should I choose to go after him for reneging on a court order, plus, I am dependent on him for this help. Any advice?Need advice on seeking what was agreed to on divorce papers?
You could get the matter back before a judge and the court would require him to pay the obligation ordered of him. The problem you will face in doing that is that will likely alienate your now-friendly ex and could put a big damper on his willingness to help you out. If you haven't brought it up to him, you might try that %26amp; let him know that there is a court order requiring him to pay, that he agreed to so he wouldn't have to pay you alimony, that he has reneged on his representation to the court, and because of that you are having to pay those bills. Maybe he'd make an effort to pitch in financially???Need advice on seeking what was agreed to on divorce papers?
This was something that was put on paper from court.. It is court ordered that he pay u alimony.. It shouldnt cost much taking him back.. Call the lawyer u had with the divorce and ask what it will take to do this.. Ur exhusband will be held in contempt of court.. saying they can put him in jail for not paying.. I understand he is helping, but also to he owes u money.

Seeking advice on getting face waxed?

Now that I'm in my 40s I am starting to have more facial hair due to those loveable horomones. I need before and after advice on avoiding breakouts and the best place to have this done.Seeking advice on getting face waxed?
I've never gone to get waxed, but the one thing I do know to offer is to check the place out. Make sure that they use fresh wax for each client to avoid infections. That means they don't keep dipping into a large pot of wax that has been used on other clients' faces and bikini areas.

    Looking for job seeking advice?

I have sent my resume to quite a few places and hardly anyone has called me (only one and not even in my industry). I am going for retail or restaurant mgmt. I have experience in this and a strong resume but no one seems to notice. I am willing to do anything but the job seeking things is new to me. What tips do you have?Looking for job seeking advice?
there r many free resume making services websites, google them.. my advice - make a 2-3 paged resume. used big and inspirational words in resume, focus on ur strengths in resume..

    try this -

    www.resume-resource.com/Looking for job seeking advice?
you should tailor your cover letter to the specific job, and not just sent out a resume or a generic cover letter. You really need to emphasize your strength, why THEY should take you, what you will bring to them, how your background and education and qualifcations are the best fit for them and their needs. You gotta sell yourself. You cant just send out a resume and think they will call you back.

Depending on the place, you should also follow up. After a week or so, call the HR department, tell them you submitted a resume and would like to know if they received it etc.
    Become a mad scientist.
I ran into the same situation. I changed both my cover letter and resume to tailor the specific position I was looking at. It helped to get return calls, interest and finally a job. Here are two resources that may help. A cover letter and resume must stand out above the rest, as there are just so many people out there competing for the same job.

  • 14 year old seeks advice on helping out in dog kennels/dog homes etc...?

I'm 14 years old and I love dogs. I want to get involved with helping out in dog kennels and stuff, but all the well known ones like Dogstrust only takes in volunteers aged 18 and upwards.

Any suggestions?14 year old seeks advice on helping out in dog kennels/dog homes etc...?
You could try some dog walking some small dogs first just to get the trust of your neighbors and maybe dog care in your home of one or two dogs at a time. Good experience. Some dog trainers will let you sit in on classes too.14 year old seeks advice on helping out in dog kennels/dog homes etc...?
I tried to get into the spca when i was 16 or so. They turned me down because i was underage and they worried that if i handled the dogs I might be bitten and there would be a lawsuit. :/
I agree with the above poster, you can probably help the shelters/kennels with sweeping, cleaning and maintenance to show them that you are mature and responsible. If you show that you are comitted, maybe they will agree to let you handle the dogs when you turn 15 or 16. Good for you for wanting to help!
your to young at the moment but why not try dog sitting for people in your area and you can make some pocket money at the same time
well, u could still volunteer at your local dog shelter...usualy they let people younger than 18, wash dishes for dogs and help prepare meals... every little thing helps! u could also give donations of food or blankets to the shelter... it really makes the animals happy. Or if u have a dog, u could join a dog 4-H club.
A lot of recues and shelters will allow you to help at your age if you have written parental consent. Go to the local rescue website and look for the link to volunteer forms or call you local HUS or shelter and ask the guidelines. Also there is a place on the petfinder website to post volunteer info so that rescues in your area can see your info. Thank you for wanting to help and just keep searching until you find your spot to lend a helping hand. Wish you were in TN, sibes can always use LOTS of brushing:)!
im sorry but to do anything your going to need training and you will need to be at least 17 or 18 even volunteers need training...and just to let you know it would be illeagal for anyone to let you work at a kennel under age
hang around someone who works there and volunteer to sweep up and stuff....when they see youare reliable and serious they might make an exception...
get the phone book out and start making calls... also try you local SPCA...

Backpacker virgin seeks advice and tips !?

I am going on a year long trip accross Asia, South America and Australasia, but have never backpacked. Any advice, or useful tips would be VERY much appreciated !!Backpacker virgin seeks advice and tips !?
Get the best rucksack you can afford made by an outdoor specialist company. Buy it at a good ';outdoor'; shop and make sure it is the right size for YOU. Most of the weight should be carried on your hips.

Don't take anything that you won't need or that only has a single use. Only take clothes that can be easily washed in a sink and dried quickly on a line.

Take a small, good quality LED torch or head-torch. Get one that takes AA or AAA batteries. If you get one that takes button cells or lithium batteries you will find it difficult to buy replacement batteries locally and they will be expensive.

Find someone who can teach you some self-defence before you go. You don't need anything fancy, just a couple of kicks and punches and the best target areas, basically eyes, nose, throat and groin (on a man).

Stay with a group of people you trust, try not to be on your own at any time. If you are on your own, avoid back-alleys, parks and short-cuts, stay where there are lots of people and lots of light.

Try to take two credit-cards. One to use and one to leave in the hotel/hostel safe in case you are robbed.

Don't take anything with you that you don't want to lose. Get a cheap watch, no expensive jewellery, no flashy phone or camera and don't let people see how much money you have. Keep most of your money hidden in a money belt or something similar and transfer a little of this to a purse when no-one can see. If you get robbed, you will only lose what is in your purse. Keep your wits about you at all times. There is no need to be neurotic but you are less likely to be a target if you look confident and aware of what is going on around you. Don't divorce yourself from your surroundings by using an i-pod or phone when you are walking in the street.

If you do feel threatened, make for somewhere with lots of people, a supermarket, service station, lit up houses, liquor store and MAKE A LOT OF NOISE.

I hope I haven't frightened you or put you off. I want you to have a good time but I would also like you to stay safe. I have given you exactly the same advice as I gave my God-daughter when she went to South America and she had a WONDERFUL time but said that part of this was due to the extra confidence she felt when she was out.

Have a good trip.Backpacker virgin seeks advice and tips !?
Don't be separated from your passport or money.

I live in a favorite spot of summer backpackers.

Amsterdam ... YEP I see them EVERYDAY! I live on the way into town from one of the larger public camping areas.

You would not believe how fast ... people will have off with your, money, passport, PHONE, credit cards and entire pack.

You have to realize those are not crimes of chance. Those are crimes committed by someone who does that FOR A JOB. And they are good at it too. These people have an entire system set up to dispose of your goods. Within minutes your credit card number is winging around the world and phone calls are being made on it.

Your clothes are searched, washed an sold in the market. even your pack is sold to a vendor of second hand equipment.

Keep your cash and passport safe. bring a photo copy of your passport OPENED showing your picture and both pages with writing.

That's it. We have very little violent crime... but the place is crawling with pickpockets!
The best tip i can suggest is......

Cut back on Toiletries....Seriously they take up a lot of room ,Are super heavy, can leak in transit %26amp; believe me you can usually everything you need along the way %26amp; much cheaper.

Just take quality products that you think you cant do without ie strong sunscreen %26amp;a few of your beauty products...

You may need to Buy a Wire%26amp; lock on the road to secure your backpack when on trains/beses hotel room....A lot of budget accomodation requires a padlock

Be safe always %26amp; trust nobody!!!! Hasslers %26amp; Hustlers seem to hone in on Fresh trusting backpackers.....treat every situation as a lesson
If you are a fan of Rachel Ray, there is an issue of her magazine just recently that she suggest you how to pack light and I found it very interesting, unfortunately I do not kept a copy of it, but you may can find one or click on her we page, pretty sure you'll find it.

Infidelity--has it happened again? Never able to prove before and won't be able to now--seeking advice?

My spouse has cheated on me before about 20 years ago. only found out by his own admission much much later. I was never able to prove it just had that jello-like feeling inside.

Fast forward. recently he went on an overseas business trip and is back now. I have that feeling again and he didn't hug me at the airport or look into my eyes. He is a shrewd man--always has been. I can't prove it %26amp; it's painful and frustrating. Anyone in the same position? or have resolved their own situation?Infidelity--has it happened again? Never able to prove before and won't be able to now--seeking advice?
It doesn't matter what others are feeling. This should be about you.

Look, you don't trust him. You have already PAID 20 years of your life living with, sleeping with, eating with a man you totally don't trust. (Jello like feeling inside? How horrible it must be...)

Believe me, I KNOW what it's like to be alone and to feel lonliness... but wouldn't it be better to be alone or lonely, then to be with someone who makes you want to vomit constantly because you just can't trust them?

Please, get out of this situation. You still have time to end up with someone who actually appreciates you... Infidelity--has it happened again? Never able to prove before and won't be able to now--seeking advice?
Well, I think you need to talk with your husband and let him know your feelings about the situation and let him know how your heart is. Communication is key to any relationship and you should be able to just talk with your husband okay? Just talk with him and let him know, if he freaks out than yes he cheated if he is willing to talk about it than give him the benefit of the doubt. But, either way you need to get it out there in the open.
i once had that same feeling of doom, didn't know why i was feeling so badly. he also ignored me and began to disconnect. i did not listen to my intuition, made excuses but found out later on the woman had been in my home when i was on vacation, found out he had been seeing her for awhile right under my nose.a few months later he left, asking for a divorce, if it feels the same as it felt to u before then kit probably is this. intuition never lies. he can't look at u, and my ex could not look at me because of the guilt he is feeling.
if this person keeps making you miserable you shouldnt be with him... you deserve to be happy... and strong all by yourself... if he broke your trust before and you feel iffy about him from time to time... you shouldnt be with him...he is keeping you for something...but not because he loves you if he would do that to you again...
Once a cheater, always a cheater. Your gut feeling is right- DON'T doubt it- take it from one who knows. Confront the situation and / or get out. Don't wait for him to give you an STD or break your heart again.
Go with your gut,it is never wrong. If you feel that it has happened again hire a private investigator, they'll catch the sneaky bastard, sorry!
Being shrewd is his cover, and he wears it well. Trust your intuition sweetie, hire a private investigator.
Go with your intuition. Never underestimate it.

Do you think I should seek urgent medical advice? Please help!?

I suffer from panic disorder which basically means I get panic attacks and anxiety. However, the anxiety and panic seems to always occur of an evening, never of a day. I was in hospital all last week, and had a catheter in my arm so they could put intravenous fluids in my arm as I was severely dehydrated. Since I got out of hospital (last Friday), my right arm(the one the catheter was in), is swollen and very painful. The doctor thought it wasn an infection and put me on antibiotics for it. However it doesn't seem to be getting any better and I currently feel like I cannot breathe and have to gulp to get enough air. Do you think I am either just worrying and thus panicking or that perhaps my breathing could be something to do with the swelling and I should seek medical assistance? Thanks for your help xoDo you think I should seek urgent medical advice? Please help!?
Well I also have panic attacks and I know it can be really confusing to know if you are just panicking or if something else is wrong. It is highly unlikely that your arm problem will have any effect on your breathing. But I would be concerned about the swelling if it continues. Below I posted a link about ';swelling'; and it explains that its normal for weeks after an injury, including an IV needle ';injury.'; I really think your panic is causing the breathing issue. I know that I have major anxiety in a similar but different way. I hate it when my stomach hurts, absolutely hate it and I am terrified of throwing up. Well I knew I would have issues because I was put on antibiotics for a sinus infection...I was completely fine and then 5 mins. after the 1st antibiotic pill, I felt like I was going to throw up and my stomach hurt. I read it on the side effects, big mistake. So its hard for me to decide if I really have a stomach ache from the antibiotic or if I gave myself one from worrying about it. And I am sure its just from worry because it probably takes more than 5 mins for it to make you sick if its going to. We just need to relax and enjoy Thanksgiving...ok :) Its all in our heads, have a drink if that helps...a nice relaxing holiday Martini or something ;) I know I am. Don't worry, you are fine.Do you think I should seek urgent medical advice? Please help!?
    Hi Scouse Princess

Personally I think u should ring your doc up and explain to him what has happened to you and what is happening to you now. It could just be the anxiety kicking in since you are worried about the state of your arm but trust me its better to be safe than sorry. Try to chill, relax and take deep breaths so you can feel better as you are doing yourself no favours getting stressed out.

I hope its nothing and you do get yourself sorted out as its really not nice feeling unwell

    Luv Magsxx
i think you should talk to a close friend or a family member

    and see what they think

i used to freak out over little things

so you might be just kinda making things seem bigger than they are

especially because you suffer from anxiety

but your throat really could be swollen

and there could be something wrong

your should probably call the doctor

    just in case
I think you should ring your gp now and explain it is bad enough that you suffer panic attacks so you don't need any more anxieties to worry about do it now not later for reassurance
YOU ARE WORRYING YOUR SELF INTO A PANIC CALM DOWN LIE DOWN CLOSE YOUR EYES BREATH IN DEEP AND SLOW HOLD COUNT TO TEN AND BREATH OUT SLOWLY DO THIS X 12 WHEN YOU FEEL TENSE . KEEP SAYING TO YOURSELF I AM FINE I AM STRONG I AM BEING SILLY
It is always sensible to at least contact your doctor if you are concerned. On the odds however it is likely that most of your symptoms are anxiety induced.
go back to the hospital you might be allergic to the antibiotics and even if it is a panic attack they can put your mind at rest good luck
Yes! seek specialist advice. Its very unlikely that a good doctor will see ur question on yahoo
Won't hurt to seek medical assistance. Always be safe.

    Hope you get better :)
go back to hospital better to be safe than sorry.
It's been almost a week and it isn't getting any better. I suspect you need to go back.

Thanks, everyone. I did seek an attorneys advice. Not to represent me though, just to answer the summons.?

It was regarding a question I posted before regarding on how to answer a court summons for breaking a lease. The only thing I forgot or did'nt get answered from the attorney was do I attach any of my proof showing just cause, or does that come later, if I even make it to court to state my case? It's a great thing that I contacted an attorney for my answer, for after getting my answer from him (the attorney) I would have had no clue and would have wrote all the wrong things down. Basically, I'd been pleading my case in the answer and that is'nt what the judge would be looking for or wanting to hear at that point and time. So folks, you do need an attorney to answer for you, for the legal terms were remarkable and most layman would'nt have a clue, like I did'nt! Thanks, and if anyone can let me know if I should submit some evidence or not along with my answer to the courts I'd be grateful! DyannThanks, everyone. I did seek an attorneys advice. Not to represent me though, just to answer the summons.?
you definitely need an attorney unless it's a small claim type of case where you can come in on a one day hearing and plead your case to the judge. otherwise, you still really don't have the training to do this at all. First you're answering a complaint not a summons. the summons is just a court order for you to appear. your answer will have admissions and denials and affirmative defenses. then there is the discovery period and motions can be filed to dismiss the case or prove one. in any case, don't think you can just handle this one against another party if they have an attorney. i know attorneys cost money, but so do judgments, you understand what i'm saying? i would at least consult with an attorney to see what i should do. good luckThanks, everyone. I did seek an attorneys advice. Not to represent me though, just to answer the summons.?
Make copies of whatever you have and attach, it can't hurt. Do not send the originals. Good Luck....

  • Does anyone know where I can seek free legal advice?

I'm in a bad situation.. I have a landlord who doesn't work and owes money. He presents himself as a nice person, but constantly lies and manipulates his tenents and he's a very sneaky person. I never signed a contract when I moved in and I paid him a deposit. I fear that I may not see my deposit back because I'll be moving back to NY and I'm in another state right now. He told me that he has 28 days to send back my deposit. Does anyone know what I should do. The man makes me sick to my stomach and I'm also living in an illegal commerical building which he lied about. He always has the front door locked so the fire department won't get suspicious. I can report him to the fire department if I wanted to. Does anyone have advice or know where I can seek free legal advice?Does anyone know where I can seek free legal advice?
You need an attorney with experience in landlord/tenant law. Do you live in a place where there's free renter counseling? Some metro areas have nonprofit organizations that provide free advice and counseling to tenants in your situation. You can also check Nolo.com for DIY legal resources. The situation you're in is pretty common, so don't sweat too much. If he doesn't return your deposit you can take him to small claims court, which is also an extremely common situation.

Dissolvment of business partnership....seek some legal advice and help.?

Dissolvement letter submitted few months ago and partners agreed. Co. did make profit. Agreed to give partners everything on condition I be paid back the equity that put-in. Had verbally agreed to the amount and payment plan, but the x-partners added with additional clause that says..I will not compete with the co. for 12months period. Not agreed to the clause so the x-partners refused to pay. ??Wondering is there such industrial clause/law that I cannot be in the same business after dissolving the partnership? What should I do to get some money back. Can I go to the small court or is there other mean? Can I get my money back?Dissolvment of business partnership....seek some legal advice and help.?
The non-compete clause can only be effective if you agree to it.

The only way to get your money back when your partners and you have a disagreement that effectively renders the partnership ineffective is a lawsuit in a Court of competent jurisdiction to dissolve the partnership. This will not be a ';small claims'; matter. You likely will need a good business lawyer who might further seek injunctive relief to prevent your partners from continuing in business under the old partnership name or partnership dba.

I hope there is much money involved because this is not going to be cheap. Having a better partnership agreement in the beginning that anticipated a potential partnership break-up and provided a non-judicial solution would have been more cost effective. Attorney fees saved on the short side are too often exceeded on the long side.Dissolvment of business partnership....seek some legal advice and help.?

Advice on how to approach seeking an unpaid position at a bakery?

Dunno. I'm wanting to do the same thing as a music engineer at a studio, and I'm thinking a walk-in would be the best way. You can better convey your charisma and energy when you do that and they may respect your forward approach.Advice on how to approach seeking an unpaid position at a bakery?
Walk in and state your case to the owner. Some are not willing to apprentice, but many are. I think it is a great idea to determine if this is what you want to do.

Hi, i am from India and recently got my immigration for Canada. I am expected to leave for Canada by December. I sincerely seek you help and valuable advice so to pursue my journey to Canada in the right direction. I have done lot of self study for all the cities and provinces. Few places i got really attracted to, but unable to make out which one would be the ideal city. So, i seek help from all Canadians who are familiar with those places and can input some information for me. I will really appreciate your effort in guiding me in the right direction.

I am a customer service professional. My wife runs her own fashion boutique and have a 3 year old girl. The places i like to settle are:

    1) Halifax (NS)

    2) Fredericton OR Moncton (NB)

    3) Saskatoon (SK)

    4) London OR Windsor OR Ottawa (ON)

Somehow my interest lies more in the Maritimes due to housing affordability and several other factors, but unware of job situation there.

Please let me know which one would be the best for me and my family to make our move to a beautiful country CANADA.

Seeing the world economic meltdown, which place can you suggest me the best. I favor East Coast. Thanks to all and will be awaiting for your replies.

Well im canadian and I think canada is an awful country, its boring, cold and we play hockey (boring, worst than baseball)..=/

I'd visit america, that's a more interesting place. And yes im ashamed of my canadian blood, because canada sucks, USA USA USA All Canadians. I seek your valuable advice and help, will appreciate your replies to my question.?
How obvious geolovescake, we all know you are from the USA, I've seen your posts. Just another war loving criminal from the USA.....please forgive this post. Americans can be very uneducated.

I agree with you that the Maritimes is probably the most affordable, but the east coast is very beautiful. You can't go wrong coming to Canada. The people are wonderful and the country is beautiful. Good luck to you!!
As other people have said Halifax is great. I'll make an argument for Fredericton though.

There are lots of employment opportunities for you here. It is a beautiful place. It is very much like Halifax, but smaller. It is probably a better place to raise your daughter than Halifax. If you go to an outlying area (Marysville maybe) it would be an incredible place to raise a child.
Halifax is a beautiful place, and you will love it there. Pay no attention to the sad little american who answered first. He's lying about being a Canadian, and he knows nothing about our wonderful country. Welcome!
I live in Halifax, and it's the perfect place along the Historic Buildings.
Hi - and welcome to Canada!

I am from London, have lived in Ottawa, and currently live in Halifax. London is a fairly good city for it's size but its main issue, in my mind, is the job market can be tough to crack. There are some IT-related call centres there, so if that's where your customer service experience lies, it may be okay. Ottawa -- if you get into the government, you'll be good job-wise. I found it a little cold (temperature and attitude of the people).

Halifax -- what can I say? I felt at home here after 3 days. Great scenery, great historical buildings, and strong sense of 'city culture'. Your wife may have an easier time with a fashion boutique in Halifax or Ottawa. London can be a little 'blue collar' when it comes to those sorts of shops. Further, I know Halifax is trying to attract migrants from overseas, and have municipal organizations dedicated to helping people get 'settled'. This may or may not be of interest/use to you:

    http://www.misa.ns.ca/

Hope this helps and again, welcome to Canada!
I would suggest Halifax, as it is the largest of the 3 cities that you mentioned. It has enough people to be able to find a job for the two of you, and it is less expensive than places in Ontario.

Nova Scotia, along with the rest of Canada, is being affected by the economic slow down. But as you have received your permission to come to Canada, after a long application process, I say come .

Here is a link to the Halifax Chronicle newspaper's online edition. Read the job ads.

    http://thechronicleherald.ca/

    Good Luck;

    Jim B. Toronto.
I would have to say that I would recommend there too,

I'm from Dartmouth (another great place to live, just across the harbor from Halifax with easy access, and probably easier to get a house, plus it's quiet and nice) and I love it.

Halifax is a great place because it's just the right size and there are plenty of job opportunities.

I'm not exactly familiar with thee other places,

    but I know enough.

But I agree with the other guy, check out the chronicle herald for different job opportunities..

Fredericton or Moncton would also be great places too they're pretty central, and plus your closer to the states for some good shopping trips then you would be from Halifax, but other then that I think that they're pretty comparable..

Saskatchewan, I truly wont lie I really don't know a whole ton about, but try googling it, but I know one, thing, my friend moved out there, and if you like the water or beach or anything like that, you'll have trouble finding one because they're aren't very many..

    I hope this helps!
What a time of year for someone from India to come to Canada to live! You will be cold!!

I agree that the Maritime Provinces of Canada have the friendliest people in the country.
