For advice on temporomandibular joint disorder, should i seek a dentist? or other specialist?

I have TMJ and the best solution I have found is to go to a chiropractor. He just jiggles my jaw about every 2 weeks and it is then noticeably smoother to open and close.

Your other option (besides a rotting jaw =P) is to go to a TMJ specialist... who is normally a dentist as well. They will then make you splits... which are like retainers that go down over the flat part of your teeth where you chew. I think it's horrible... you have to mush your food before you eat it... people can see that you're wearing them, etc. It is also VERY expensive... and can move your teeth around (which is no good if you've had braces in the past).

Now I'm doing great... my TMJ is under control, and the chiropractor has done an awesome job. Also... most insurances do not cover anything associated with TMJ... whether it be dentist or chiropractor.
