i currently have a ba in journalism, worked five years as a small magazine editor/writer. am now working at a national medical equipment company, waiting for a promised sales position to open...i am getting impatient. i want to make more money. would you all recommend getting my master's or obtaining my real estate license. i am a writer at heart (with a book in the works) but in the meantime, i want to make some dough!Seeking career advice: obtain a masters or real estate license?
It never hurts to have a real estate license although the economy has currently killed the real estate market.
Long term, you'd be better off with a masters.Seeking career advice: obtain a masters or real estate license?
I don't think real estate is really good at this time. Why not get your masters..it would take just as long as a real estate if you go full time and you know education is never wasted. With a masters you can get any job ..even if it isn't in your field. They want degrees....
If the real estate market picks up...then go for that.....
right now the time isn't right for that. I have several friends that are real estate people and they are hurting..no one wants to buy right now. We thought about selling our house and getting a smaller one....our house is 5000 sq feet...but no way could we get what it is worth right now....even with their help.....
I would get a masters ....you are never wrong with that.
Do both.
I really say get your masters because thats more valuable and harder to get.
You can get a Real Estate License fairly easy. Thats why I say do both.
1. Take the Real Estate Classes now and start working Part time while in school for you Masters.
Depends if you want to invest a littlle or a lot.
You can be successful at anything you choose, as long as you have a passion and LOVE it.
I am a nurse- and I like that-
but recently I got involved with the travel industry- and I LOVE that. It took a lot less money and is just as- if not more lucrative.
so do what you LOVE.

Job seeking advice. Should I mention the position that's available?
I'd like to work at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale airport hotel. But the positions available isn't that appealing to me. I'd worked in a hotel before but as a reception. The point I'm trying to make is, I don't mind what kind of position I get, I just don't want to label the specific job..in case their are better positions available.Job seeking advice. Should I mention the position that's available?
Rather than getting disappointed after getting the job it is better not to get it coz someone else might want what you don't want. The point here is...be specific to what you want and GO for it and I am confident that when you are sure of what you want, 'you will get it.' All the very Best.

Seeking advice for my 3 year-old who bites at preschool?
My son turned 3 at the beginning of September. At the same time, we enrolled him in a wonderful Montessori preschool program. This is his first exposure to any type of preschool or daycare program. He loves going to school, and his teacher tells me he is very sweet %26amp; bright, follows instructions well, and is eager to participate. However, he has now had 3 incidents of biting another child. His teacher says he does this in conflict situations and/or when he feels frustrated (e.g., another child taking something from him). Interestingly, these incidents occur on the playground, not in the classroom. His teacher tells me that since he is so young, it is nothing to truly be concerned about, and that we all must be consistent in addressing the behavior and teaching him to use words to express anger or frustration. I guess I'm looking for reassurance that this is not abnormal behavior, and I'd also like any advice on ways to deal with the problem. Is he perhaps not yet ready for school?Seeking advice for my 3 year-old who bites at preschool?
This is absolutely normal for the age, the first time in school situation, and the teacher is right... teaching him ways to ';use his words'; will really help. Young children are still in the ';me'; stage... they are very egocentric and believe that everything revolves around them. This is why they have to be taught to share- they believe everything truly belongs only to them! : ) The situations you describe (conflicts with another child, frustration) are the most common reasons a child bites. Obviously this teacher is trained enough to recognize the reasons that your child is biting others, which is a big help in being able to modify the behavior. Behaviors such as this are not an indicator that he is not ready for school, it just shows that he has limited experience dealing with issues that come from being in a group. He lacks social experience. Time will help take care of most of the problem... as he matures, and his language abilities develop, the biting will subside (as long as the teachers are addressing the behavior and showing him how to use words to get his message across). The best things to do:
-Call attention to times when others are hurt, feeling sad, angry or disgusted. Talk to your son about the name of that feeling, and what it means; ';He fell down and hurt his leg. That made him sad. He is crying.'; It may seem like a ';no-brainer'; to figure out why someone is feeling a certain way, but it is not obvious to children. They don't understand the abstract concept of feelings yet.
- Talk about what happens when your son does something to someone else. ';When you pushed Jimmy, it made him sad.'; Calling attention to the cause and effect of feelings helps to show your child that what they do can affect others. They need to understand that another person can have the same feelings they do in order to understand to be empathetic.
- Show him facial expressions. Find a book about feelings that shows the facial expressions of those feelings (or you can make faces in a mirror). Showing children how to recognize feelings on another person's face will help them be able to recognize what another person is feeling.Seeking advice for my 3 year-old who bites at preschool?
most little kids go through a ';biting';phase especially little boys I'm sure it will pass but still give him some kind of punishment(no dessert or a smack on the hand)it will sure pass soon though
A lot of little kids bite. I do not think it is anything to worry about, just something that needs to be corrected. If you just (and the teacher) continue to let him know that its not ok to bit, then he should grow out of it. good luck
you safe, the last time i bite my sister i was 9 years old, when i was young, a spanking, not a beating, was the answer to get your attention and keep it pointed in the right direction.
i am 55 and still believe that spanking, not beating, is a good way to teach a child right from wrong, to me time out just gives them more time to think of ways to get into trouble.
he bites?
my 7 year old cousin did that when she was 2 and 3 years old. she grew out of it but the best way to get him out of it is everytime he does it you take something away from him and tell him he'll get it back in a certain amount of days and everytime he does it do the same thing but take it longer. also explain to him that its not good to do that and he could get sick that way. and if he likes going tell him your not going to let him go anymore if he does it again.
3 years old is too young for school unless you don't have time for him anymore......4 is good for preschool age kids 5 yrs if he is the only child....... conflict situation of anger and frustration does sometimes cause this kind of reaction ...my kids went thru them also....
My daughter, at 2 1/2 to 3 1/4 was a hitter/grabber/kicker, also in conflict situations. The more moms I talked, the more I heard that it is normal, or at least it happens a lot. We do not believe in spanking/hitting/violence at home, so she did not learn that behavior from us. It's true that little ones just don't have the communication skills to express their feelings. We need to help them learn those skills, or other ways to express their feelings.
I took a class called ';Pushing the Limits'; through a community child behavior center in southern California. I learned to pay very close attention to all of the circumstances around her violent outbursts. In our case, it happened mostly when she had skipped breakfast. She was grouchy because she was hungry and wasn't able to identify hunger as the cause of her bad mood. Along with making sure she was equipped with ample snacks, we did a lot of role playing of what to do in conflict situations.
This might sound weird but we were given homework assignments to have ';special time'; with our kids three times a week. This is a 15 minute session where the kid gets our full attention and gets to pick whatever game/activity we do and gets to tell us what to do, completely... even how to feel. In those 15 minutes I learned so much about my daughter, and myself.
Good luck.
BTW... I hope nobody here tells you to spank or bite your kid back. That will only reinforce the behavior.
First of all, forget the rude answer red top gives. Biting is normal. I have taught early headstart and regular headstart for some time now. I deal with kids who bite everyday. Usually it's out of frustration of not being able to express theymselves. Sometimes it's out of anger if another won't share...the list goes on. If the children are teething that may have something to do with it too. Much of the advice you've been given by others here is good advice. Keep explaining that biting hurts. As your child learns more words the biting incidents will diminish.
Lastly, all kids bite at one time or another. Some do it more than others. It's not your fault or anyone else's so don't let that red top person make you think so. Good luck.
Assuming you've already warned your child at least once (which is all it should take since a child is supposed to obey their parent) the next time you simply say ';what did I tell you about biting?'; and they'll tell you that you said ';not to bite';. Then you you whoop them (couple good swats on their ***) and tell them they better listen to you next time.
The abnormal behavior will come in when the child grows up thinking that he doesn't have to listen. There is no quicker or enduring punishment than spanking (not beating) for those of you that are ready to call protective services haha.
I can't tell you how many people have told me over the years how well behaved my kids are. And they are happy kids who understand that there is no reason to hit or harm another person except in self-defense. Or if that person is their child and they are teaching them how to be a respectful human being.
Trust me it only takes 1 time to get the point across...twice if they are stubborn.
Leave him be. He'll grow out of it.
We all did weird things as a child.
To be completely honest he's going to be just fine. I had the same problem when I was in pre-school. You just need to teach him that hurting someone just because he doesn't get his way isn't the way to handle it. Once he learns that biting is not ok then you won't have any problems. Seems a little cruel I know but every time he bites you could make him bite the soap bar, then eventually he would associate biting someone with having to bite that bar of soap. Good Luck!!
this is good thing,
As a lot of people said before me, a lot of little kids bite or hit etc. It's just because they don't know how to store their anger yet. So just keep talking to him about it and give him appropriate punishments.

I have genital herpes and I am seeking support and advice from others. Can anyone help me?
I found out that I have genital herpes a few months ago. I'm very emotional about it and I don't how to deal with it. I'm concerned with how this will affect my life. I'm single but I desire to be married and have a family someday and I feel like people would run once they knew that I have GH. I don't want to give herpes to anyone, yet I want to get married someday and have a healthy sex life. I need direction, help, and comfort right now. I know I can't change the facts but I need to come to terms with this and not cry when I talk about it. What support is available? What do support groups have to offer? What can you suggest that I do to answer questions I have? What type of sex life can I expect now that I have herpes? I don't want to spread this disease. Can I get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy without spreading herpes? Any direction and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all who read and reach out to me, I really appreciate it.I have genital herpes and I am seeking support and advice from others. Can anyone help me?
There is no question that this is a diagnosis that no one is happy about receiving. It sucks, but it does get better. The first think you need to remember is to not let herpes define who you are. It is just a virus and in the grand scheme of things, it is far less of an issue in a relationship that a lot of other baggage that exists out there.
When I found out I had herpes I was in shock. I never slept around and have had far fewer partners that anyone else I know. How could that happen to me? It was like I had a big sign over my head that told everyone that *I* was the one. But since then I have found out that there are so many of us out there! Between 25- 40% of the population has genital herpes! We are everywhere! No one can tell who we are, and those who love us see it for what it is. Just a minor inconvenience from time to time, but nothing more.
Yes, of course you can get married, have a healthy sex life, and have children. My husband is h- and it makes no difference to him if I have it. Over 25% of all babies born in the US are born to mothers with genital herpes. So that is not an issue.
There are ways to avoid spreading the virus, but it is also possible that you will find someone who already has it. You did not say what type you have, but as many as 90% of the population has type 1 herpes. If that is what you have, then chances are you do not need to worry about spreading it anyway. Those who reject you for having herpes are probably not worth being in your life anyway. Decent people will see you for who you are, and not focus on the virus that is no more than a cold sore.

hi, welcome to the club. not that we wanted to be members but it helps to know you are not alone, i was diagnosed with herpes about a year and a half ago. i caught it from my ex-boyfriend in year 3 of our relationship. i never thought i would get an STD. I never slept around. My ex was my 2nd partner. I wore condoms and this still happened. I was naturally devastated when i found out. I cried about it a lot. I dumped my ex and i havent dated anyone since for two reasons: i dont really trust people anymore and i am afraid of people judging me. I want to be married on day and have kids two. My doctor assures me I can have healthy kids. If i have an outbreak during labor, a c-section will be performed. I am currently looking for a support group. I think it would help to meet other people in the same situation. I know there are dating websites for people with herpes but I am not the ';online dating'; type. So for now I am just working on being the best me I can be (physically, mentally, and spiritually). Hopefully I will learn to trust again but until then I need to be alone. I know it sucks having herpes but look at it this way. It is not HIV, AIDS or cancer. If herpes is the worst thing that happens to me life can still be good. Hope I helped.
I was diagnosed as having genital herpes 10 years ago, amazingly enough I contacted it through receiving oral sex from a guy with a cold sore so readers beware you don't need to have intercourse. The first outbreak was terrible but mostly due to the flu like symptoms I suffered from. I felt very isolated and stigmatised and I suppose I still do. Since this first attack I haven't been aware of another outbreak so if there has been one it wasn't bad enough for me to notice. I have had two children in the last 7 years and it didn't effect my pregnancies at all though if you have an outbreak while your delivering your baby it could be passed on to the baby but only in a vaginal delivery obviously! but even then not to worry because this is easily cleared up. I do understand how you feel but once you get over the stigma you'll be fine. Another thing you can only pass the virus on if you have an outbreak, but if you use condoms you should be fine, and you don't have to tell every guy you sleep with only if you feel comfortable and it's a long term thing. One more thing don't be ashamed and don't label yourself you may never get another outbreak and if you do at least it's something treatable and not hiv.

I too felt just like you are feeling now when I was diagnosed. However in the last 5 years the episodes have become less. I do suffer more in summer and when I am stressed. I know when I am going to have an episode as I tingle right the way down to my feet, get achy and head ache as well as the obvious. Outbreaks only last max 10 days and do clear up quicker in time. You will be able to have babies, if you are suffering at the time of labour you may be advised to have a C Section.
Don't despair life does go on. There are lots of websites and some are a bit conflicting. Taking minerals is meant to help, I have not tried it. I had been a carrier for many years before I had my first episode and was happily married at that time. My husband has never had any symptoms and it is possible he passed it on to me. However you will know when you are infected and will not want contact.
There are worst things that you could be diagnosed with, that is what I tell myself. My heart does go out to you, but you will be fine.
Ask your local STD Clinic if you can talk to their counsellor.

Is Klonopin dangerous during pregnancy?I will seek doctor's advice but want to know from other's experience
Klonopin is a panic attack drug/antidepressantIs Klonopin dangerous during pregnancy?I will seek doctor's advice but want to know from other's experience
YES! I had horrible panic attacks for a year before and I found out I was pregnant this January. Stop taking them immediatly! I didn't think it was too big a deal, but I had taken one every night for the first two weeks I didn't know I was pregnant (I just ';needed'; them) and then I stopped when I learned I was pregnant but took them one or two nights because I thought I needed them. I asked my doctor if it was really not so bad, but they said it was. (even thought the baby is fine, because I did it so early on and not too much) But they said becasue of how muc it slows your body down and helps you sleep, it will literally ';sedate'; the baby! (permanantly) I was horrified that I could have taken them. But, the doc said it was fine, just not to do it again, because the baby is developing every day. So stop them now, but if you have been taking them try not to worry so much, because the baby is probably just fine. I personally had a really hard time stopping them, (its easier said then done) but knowing I had to do it for the baby really helped. I started to really try brething right (in through nose, out throught the mouth... make sure when you breathe out its longer than it was going in... it really helps) and yes, i had to make a few ';emergency trips to the er at night when i'd get freaked out, but there was nothing they could do, other than help me work through them. It helped me to sleep with the lights on and have my fiance saty up late so I knew he'd be up. Oh, and of course my life saver, Tylenol PM really helps you sleep and ';knocks you out'; and calms you down. It is completely safe, all Tylenol prioducts are whenyour pregnant. (but still try not to over do it.) But it has really helped me! Good luck and I know what your going through!!!Is Klonopin dangerous during pregnancy?I will seek doctor's advice but want to know from other's experience
Its also used for severe pain and if it was me on it and having a baby I would not keep taking the meds. But I am not a doctor so just ask your doctors.Good luck
